emerge-ncy
Emerge-ncy is a gentoo-based livedvd/linuxusb, aiming to provide disk recovery tools, network utilities, and whatever could be possible useful in a livedvd/usb distribution. The great thing about emerge-ncy is that it will support both x86 and x86_64 installations simultaneously!
Hardware support^
I don't really have so many different hardware setups to test if it works. Therefore, I decided to use the kernel configuration from the installdvd, which is said to support virtually anything.
Available software^
Network tools^
A wide range from tools is installed, incluing nmap, nc, iptables, network sniffers and inspection tools. A system running emerge-ncy can act (temporarily) as a router, allowing time for network troubleshooting. In addition, there are some wireless tools included, and many remote access services (rdesktop, vnc, etc).
Other tools^
Tools for both windows and linux recovery. These should allow you to recover your files, repair broken installations, and get your computer up and running.
Get started^
From next version, there will be one version for usb and one for livedvd. For now, all you get is a .iso image. You can install the image on your usb with sys-boot/unetbootin.
